The things I’ve enjoyed this month: June

Going through the month interacting with social media is interesting and fun. But, how many of those “likes” do we really remember?

This is my way to give those social media influencers a little bit of a boost. Because I know a lot of them help each other as well.

Here are my favorite social media posts and accounts (with a little silliness) for the month of June.

Hopefully, you enjoy them as much as I have this past month,

Hello, my name is Kristen Osborne I am a happy mother of one beautiful little girl. Very into the internet and trying out new things.

May birthday celebration and favorites for the month

The month of May has been a fun-filled whirlwind of activity. Especially so for this past week.

Allie turned 3 on May 21 and we took a 2 night trip to Baltimore, Maryland for her birthday celebration.

The first night we just relaxed in the hotel room and had a nice, quiet dinner from a place called Dinosaur Barbecue.

We got a family meal of brisket, chicken, and spare ribs along with mac and cheese, collard greens (which I absolutely LOVE) and fries. Everything was so good! 10 out of 10 do recommend 🙂

Then the next morning we had a nice little breakfast in the hotel before we left.

We walked from our hotel to the Baltimore Aquarium. Allie loved seeing all the little fish, especially the ones that looked like Nemo and Dory!

She liked the Turtle that was missing a flipper…

Also loved seeing the Dolphins (which are mommies favorite). She did not enjoy the sharks so much. But, we made up for that by getting her a plush Nemo at the gift shop. She carried it around for the rest of the day and most of the night 🙂

Then, we went to a few of the stores at The Inner Harbor. One of which was Barnes and Noble where we got Allie a few books for her birthday and Mommy and Daddy got some much-needed coffee.

We walked back to the hotel to rest for a few hours before dinner. Allie was very tired from all the excitement, so she took a pretty long nap.

When she woke up we decided that we wanted to walk back to the Inner Harbor to go to The Cheesecake Factory for dinner.

It was a great day for all. Allie had a wonderful time.

The next morning we went to breakfast at the hotel again. Then we checked out and headed to the Maryland Zoo at Baltimore.

We had never been to this particular zoo. We were very excited to see all the animals here.

Mommy was especially excited to see the baby giraffe Willow and her mommy and daddy. I was not disappointed 🙂

  birthday celebration and favorites list

Willow and her Aunts on the Left (Willow’s Mommy, Juma, on the right)

Willow on the left (she is so cute!) (Willow and her Aunts on the right)

These last two are Willow and her mommy Juma! So pretty 🙂

We also saw a rhinosaurus who was more active than the one at the Philadelphia Zoo, which was very cool.

Mommy and Allie saw an elephant for the first time. Allie was not that into the elephant though.

We also saw an Arctic fox for the first time and he was so cute!

I highly recommend going to the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore.

They have some really wonderful animals. The habitats for these animals are not only great for viewing, but they also seem very happy living there.

The enclosures are large and look much like what I believe they would in the wild.

The animals are much more active because I believe that they are less anxious being in such a natural area. There is very little noise pollution from highways since the Zoo itself is so far back in the woods.

All in all, we had a great time in Baltimore as a little family. The trip was a huge success and Allie had a wonderful Birthday.

Perfection is a tool of the enemy designed to steal our joy. Kids don't want perfect moms. They don't want immaculate houses. They don't want gourmet meals. They want moms who make hard decisions for them. They want moms who stop to listen to them. They want moms who act fun and stupid. They want moms who love them unconditionally. They want moms who are present in their lives. There's a huge difference between a #specialneeds #child having hard time in public places than a normal child giving hard time to a parents. You can tell a normal .. to stop ✋.. if you get lucky they listen 😂😒 .. when you have #nonverbal child ; it's not that easy..As parent We have seen both sides.. But when you have special needs child, it's harder on parents because anything can make a child uncomfortable.. breaks my heart when I hear people say.. " can you please get your child to stop crying or can you tell her/him to stop crying 😡😒 .. really? I dare people.. go 24hrs without speaking.. see how it feels. nonverbal children's all over the world go through hard time try to communicate. Can you imagine being 3,5, 6 ,7.. years old child; when all the kids around them talking ,laughing , communicate.. But they can't. Please let us be humble and understandable help out when we see parents with special needs children's. I am proud mom of special needs child.. my son NEVER give me hard time.. #besupportive #bekind #momlife #motherhood #parenthood #parentinglife #autism #autismkids #kidswithautism #publicplace #proudmom #autismmommy #parentingquotes #quotes #crying #childrens #veganmom #mommy #momlife

I have really come to enjoy collecting my favorite Social Media posts and other internet related things as a blogger.

All through the month, I save the things that speak to me. Whether that be emotionally or mentally or even spiritually.

It is so much fun and even relaxing to like and then share great posts from talented people, even if they are not bloggers.

This month is no different, I have compiled a list of really great posts that I really loved.

I like to start with a few quotes to bring the mood up and motivate those mommies who are having a bad day.

I hope this post gives you some inspiration and maybe even a laugh or two.

So, let’s get into my official awesome April list…

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change” (always my go to for the bad days)

March Favorites: The things I’ve enjoyed

There are so many talented people in the world. I find beauty in pretty much everything I see.

From artists to authors, to architects… so much creativity all around.

Even on the internet… there are so many sites where you can see the beauty of life and art.

Some are blogs written by very intelligent, wonderful people.

Others are social media accounts that follow the lives of these talented people.

And then, there are MOTHERS who, I believe, are the most beautiful people.

They care for their children with a passion and tenacity that you can see in their pictures.

Their sense of humor can make even the grumpiest person giggle a little.

Today, I give you my favorite posts from other moms. Some are just everyday moms and some are bloggers.

All are great!

“Child rearing myth #1: Labour ends when the baby is born.”
Motherhood has taught me the meaning of living in the moment and being at peace. Children don’t think about yesterday, and they don’t think about tomorrow. They just exist in the moment.
Motherhood has relaxed me in many ways. You learn to deal with crisis’. I’ve become a juggler, I suppose. It’s all a big circus, and nobody who knows me believes I can manage, but sometimes I do.
All those cliches, those things you hear about having a baby and motherhood – all of them are true. And all of them are the most beautiful things you will ever experience.
Motherhood is wonderful, but it’s also hard work. It’s the logistics more than anything. You discover you have reserves of energy you didn’t know you had.

Valentine’s Recap: A week in the Life

This is going to be a running diary… Valentine’s Recap of the past week.

Friday February 10 2017

This week has been pretty full. We did a lot of projects and had a lot of fun.

Allie and mommy did not make the crafts we planned to do because I did not have the supplies we needed. So we improvised and made some quick Valentine’s for the family.

Valentine’s Day Scrapbook page

Allie decided to take a break and have a snack.

Saturday February 11 2017

Allie’s daddy and I celebrated Valentine’s Day together. Allie spent the night with her mom-mom and cousin Kaila.

We stayed the night at a Courtyard Marriot Suite. Which I will say now was really not worth the money we spent for one night. But, if you don’t mind spending a chunk of money to sleep and shower it was a pretty nice room.

Sunday February 12 2017

Went to my moms with breakfast for everyone. Sat around and talking and relaxing for a bit before going home.

Monday February 13 2017

Today, I woke up feeling like death warmed over. I got nothing done and pretty much just relaxed and drank lots of hot tea.

Tuesday February 14 2017

It isn’t even 8:30 on this Tuesday morning and I am at the bottom of my coffee cup contemplating another. Allie isn’t yet awake and I should still be in bed. But I am a masochist…. no, not really. I just wanted to get some things done before she woke up…

Breakfast is made and waiting for her. The pan I used to cook is clean. A load of laundry is started.

And the geese are celebrating Valentine’s Day. There are two, right now, out back in the field. They are honking like crazy just walking along next to each other. Honestly, if the sound wasn’t so annoying I’d say it was pretty romantic.

If Allie doesn’t wake up by 9:00 I am going to have to wake her up myself. I don’t like the idea of that, but if I don’t she will take a very late afternoon nap and then be up all night. The sacrifices we make as moms.

How was your Valentine’s Day? Did you celebrate yet or are you waiting for the weekend?

Are you planning a family celebration or are you having a romantic evening out?

Whatever you plan to do, I hope you have a wonderful, loving experience.

5 Reasons I’m not Piercing my Daughters Ears

Even before I had a child I have always had many opinions about different topics. Piercing my daughters ears is one of the big ones.

I have always felt very strongly against this but I never actually thought of the reasoning behind my decision.

I thought about this the other day. I came up with 5 reasons that resonate with me.

Here are the 5 reasons I will not be piercing my daughters ears myself:

  • If the earring is pulled it can tear the earlobe
  • No matter how clean a piercing place is, there is always a chance of infection
  • I have holes in my ears and I haven’t worn earrings in years.
  • It hurts, a lot.
  • If my daughter wants to get her ears pierced, I want her to make the decision on her own. Its her body, she should have the choice if she does or doesn’t want holes in her ears.

I will let her know the pros and cons of having earrings and taking care of them as they heal. It will be her duty if she so chooses.

I hate that I didn’t have a choice in the matter. My mom got my ears pierced when I was a little under 2 years old. I have not won earrings since high school. I am now 33 years old. I have these holes in my ears that pretty much act like black heads. They fill up with dead skin cells that then begins to hurt if I don’t remember to regularly clean them. Since I do not wear any earrings there is nothing blocking the hole.

How many people actually wear earrings anymore anyway? I feel as though many people decide to wear other types of jewelry these days. I think that a nice statement necklace and bracelet can go a long way. But, that’s just my opinion.

daughters ears

If your daughter’s ears are pierced or you decide to get them pierced, here are some very pretty earrings.

(affiliate link)

I know this is not a very long or interesting post. But, the topic was on my mind and I wanted to get it off my chest.

I would love to know how you feel about earrings, and what age you think is appropriate to get them. Does your daughter or son have any piercings?

Ramblings of a Stay Home Mom

You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”

I have so many thoughts rambling around in my head today. It’s difficult to organize them and really know where to start. So, I’ll just say that this post is going to be all over the place.

This is pretty much going to be what the title says…. Ramblings of a stay home mom…

A lot of things going on in the world today are scary and depressing. Understanding all of it can be overwhelming.

Also, raising a daughter in this current time is terrifying. Thinking about that gives me chills.

Life has a strange way of knocking you down so far that you think it’s impossible to go any longer. Then, something happens to reignite the fire that was once burning in your core to go after everything you have ever wanted to accomplish.

Then, something happens to reignite the fire that was once burning in your core to go after everything you have ever wanted to accomplish.

And yet again you are knocked right down on your back.

Starting over again from scratch can be so scary. But, it is also very liberating.

You can do anything if you put your mind to it! It seems so cliché, but it is completely true.

So many times we get down and feel as though it would be so much easier to just quit and go along with whatever comes. But, that will only lead to more heartache.

Take control of your life!

You are the maker of your own happiness. Never settle for less than what you know you are worth.

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.”

More ramblings of a stay home mom….

When I’m feeling down on myself I do one of three things:

  1. Listen to music

  2. Read inspiring quotes

  3. Play with my daughter

When I listen to music it is for the most part up beat and fun. But, when I get into a mood it can be very sappy.

I absolutely love Garth Brooks. He runs the spectrum of fun happy songs to sad songs. A great fit for any mood.

I got this box set for Christmas and I am beyond happy with the music that is included!!! (affiliate link)

The inspiring quotes and sayings I turn to are mostly religious but they can absolutely apply to many different life events.

  • Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow, it empties today of its strength”

  • We are all faced with a series of great opportunities brilliantly disguised as impossible situations”

  • There’s no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one.”

  • The phrase ‘working mother’ is redundant.”

  • If you change the way you look at things the things you look at change”

This calendar incorporates inspiring quotes and relaxing adult coloring pages for each month. It is a great way to de=stress.

Playing with Allie is and always will be my favorite stress reliever. No matter how my day is going or what has happened recently. She can put a smile on my face any time.

Articles to read:

Some nights, when I can’t get to sleep, I grab my phone and bring up YouTube. There is a very relaxing thing that helps me drift off to sleep easily.

ASMR which stands for Autonomous sensory meridian response, is a euphoric experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine, precipitating relaxation. The biggest advice I can give is to have patience. Your life will go the way it needs to go. You will get to the place you need to be in good time.

I just need to remember that.

How do you handle the everyday stresses? Do you have any meditation exercises? Maybe a mantra that you repeat to yourself when you feel overwhelmed. My go to mantra came from my mother,

“This too shall pass”

Hoping you can de-stress and enjoy your family  and friends this year.

And this has been Ramblings of a stay home mom

Have a wonderful day!
