A Final Goodbye to 2016: Family Year Review

Family Year Review of the things we have been doing for the past year.

Around this time of the holiday season I find myself thinking over this past year as sort of a family year in review.

So many things happen in the short span of a year. We seem to easily forget and/or rush through many of these things. It is a nice exercise to go back and reminisce on our experiences with family and friends.

In the spirit of the Holidays, I got to thinking about the things we have done this year. I would like to share with everyone my experiences.

Family Year Review

In February, for Valentine’s Day, Allie’s daddy took mommy to the Art Museum. I really enjoyed it. The talent of these artists through the years is so inspiring. I had an amazing time and I can’t wait to go again.

We got a hotel room for the night in a very swanky place. We ordered room service and watched a few movies. While Allie was hanging out with mom-mom for the night. It was a much needed time of relaxation and fun.

The next thing for this year is that I started this blog on March 9. It is still greatly in its infancy. But, I take it in stride because everyone works at their own pace. I can do this in my own time. Mostly, I get distracted by this pretty face.

Allie

But she is obviously a welcome distraction. She is of course my reason for this blog.

Early in the year was very relaxing and we did not have much to do the first couple of months. Although, we were preparing for a Wedding. Allie was the Flower girl in Uncle Andrew and Aunt Kait’s Wedding on April 2. She did such a great job!!!

family year review

Then on May 21, 2016 my baby girl turned 2!

family year review

Our little girl is growing up so fast. She has greatly exceeded our expectations. Allie is so very smart at just over 2 1/2 years (31 months).

Next, we had planned to move out and into our own place around the middle of June. That plan had fallen through at the last minute. We are still living with Allie’s daddy’s mom. We do plan on getting our own place in the not to distant future. Right now we are saving money.

A few months go by and we have a pretty relaxing time.

Then we went to a 4th of July (also happens to be my birthday) party. My mom and niece watched Allie so we could have a good time without worrying.

I had such a good time that I neglected to take any pictures. That I am very sad about…

Then a little more time goes by, hanging out with my beautiful little girl.

Then, we went to the zoo a few times. Allie and mommy really love the zoo, especially the giraffes.

Then, Halloween snuck up on us so quick.

We went to a Halloween party similar to the 4th of July party,  only we wore costumes and it was at night. 🙂 Also had a good time that I didn’t take any pictures. Again, I am very sad about it.

Allie had a really fun time Trick or Treating this year. She walked up to almost every house with daddy close behind. Said Trick or Treat and Thank you to everyone.

If you give Allie more than one thing at a time, she will take 1 at a time and say thank you after each one. So, needless to say, any house that we went to who thought she was the cutest kitty decided to give her 4 or 5 pieces of candy. So for almost a full 40 seconds she would stand there taking one at a time and putting it in her bag. Every person got such a kick out of it.

She also had to pet every dog that was any where near her at any given time.

Allie was dressed up like a pretty Kitty Cat (Allie Cat). She loved her costume very much.

Thanksgiving is pretty much the same every year. We go to my brothers and have a great dinner that his wife cooks. She is a great cook!

Then we go shopping on black Friday. This year, just like last year, we got almost everything on our list. We had just a few more things to purchase for our family and friends.

Christmas Eve came and we went to my brothers for the gift exchange to the nieces and nephews. Allie got some great toys from her Aunt’s and Uncles, also a very nice Princess Castle from Mom-Mom.

Christmas Day lasted two days for Allie’s Daddy’s side of our big family. We all got some great gifts and enjoyed spending time with each other.

This year has been a whirlwind of ups and downs. Everyone has their own experiences. Most of the year has been very pleasant and enjoyable.

A scrapbook for all your memories each year. Scrapbooking is a great way to save your pictures, trinkets and, keepsakes in a cute way. Especially when you have little ones.

This is my scrapbook page for Halloween. Not much going on because I just like the simple look sometimes.

Christmas this year was so much fun! Allie really got into the opening of presents. She still asks if we have any more presents for her. “More presents for me now?”.

The Things I enjoyed this year

From blogs to songs to quotes to Pinterest boards

These are all the things I have loved this year

In no special order

Blogs:

I have listed a lot of these in my blogs to follow posts but they are such great blogs that they stand another mention:

Mom Advice – specifically her Notebook that she posts every Wednesday about the things she has done that week

Lady and the Blog – especially everything

The Every Girl – I love her Coffee Talk under the Wellness category

Modern Mom – Anything under her Parenting category

Vintage Revivals – I check out this blog when I’m looking for décor inspiration

Okay, I am going to preface this with something. I am a 33 year old woman with a 2 1/2 year old daughter. That being said, I hate “adulting”.  So, I hold on to some seemingly “young”? things.

And, as such….. I am completely “fan girling” over this guy.  (fan girl: behave in an obsessive or overexcited way).

Ladies, I am not kidding right now. I commented on 2 of his Instagram posts and HE LIKED MY COMMENTS.

This is a normal everyday guy who just happens to be known pretty well for his Vines. Also, He is a very talented rapper outside of that. He also has a Snapchat that I check constantly. (hence fan girl).

J. Cyrus…….

Check him out!

Quotes

Always the #1: “This too shall pass” my mom

“Cheerfulness is the atmosphere in which all things thrive”

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best”

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started”

“Everyday brings new choices”

Allie’s Mommy and Daddy’s song:

I do not believe in New Year’s resolutions…

Why wait for a certain day to better your life? If you have something about yourself that you personally do not like, then do the things you need to do to change it now.

We all need to look at ourselves and evaluate the things that make us happy or bring us down. If there are things in our lives that do not help us move forward we need to move past those things. Life is more precious and important than what hinders us. Whether it be a person or an object or a habit. Take back your life.

Here is to hoping that 2017 is all that you need and want!!!

What is the one thing that you experienced this past year that you enjoyed the most??

I hope everyone has a happy healthy New Year!

Random list of the things I know I don’t know

A Random list of things I just don’t know

I’m not ashamed, I’m human

“An essential aspect of creativity is not being afraid to fail”

Random list of things I don’t know.

If you don’t know… you can learn.

I have realized recently, that I have been going about this blogging thing all wrong.

I have been trying to portray a personality of knowing much more that I actually do. In doing so, I sounded fake and uninteresting,

I have decided to re-do what I shouldn’t have done in the first place.

Also, I would like to apologize to anyone who may have read my blog in the past. I know it must have been excruciating to get through. I know that you did it in order to be nice and give feedback. I greatly appreciate it.

So, in order to make amends, I would like to explain the things I do NOT know.

First, I am doing this in the “stream of consciousness” style. While I am writing this a few days before it will be published, I will not be editing excessively. I want to show all of you the real me.

I am not in any way an expert blogger. I learn new things every day. I don’t want to act like I have it all together anymore. BecauseI most certainly do not.

This is me. I’m here for all of you. I want to help other SAHM’s like me, the best I can.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES
Allie and mommy

If you are here to genuinely help me and learn with me every day, Thank you so much!

I love being a mom and a homemaker. I try very hard to do the right thing for my little family.

If you get through this post and you realize that you are like me, please subscribe. It would help me out a lot.

I have been doing this for about 8 months and I have 1 subscriber.

I have put a heck of a lot of work into this blog and I want to be able to help people with it.

Enough about what I want.

Random List of…

Things I DON’T know…. yet

1- Schedules:

schedules-are-not-my-forte

  • I do not handle schedules well.
  • I couldn’t even tell you the last time I actually followed a schedule. High school maybe.
  • Schedules with a toddler is just so funny to me.
  • How do mothers with a young child, especially those with more than one, stick to a strict schedule?
  • I just can’t.
  • It is very rare when I wake up before 8 in the morning. (and I have a 2-year-old)

2- Diet:

i-love-fruitsand-veggies

  • Huh?
  • My diet is horrible
  • If you don’t believe me- ask my love handles and saddle bags (as my mom likes to point out frequently)
  • I barely have enough time/energy to cook the food let alone make fresh/organic meals
  • Don’t judge me, monkey.
  • It’s not all bad, I eat fruits and veggies on a regular basis
  • But, if you tell me I’m supposed to have 4-6 servings of each a day, I’m gonna laugh in your face.
  • Cause, who actually does that?

3- Exercise:

exercise-is-hard

  • My exercise routine consists of going up and down the steps a few times a day in order to get the laundry done.
  • Maybe I’ll take Allie for a walk to the park if its warm outside.
  • Other than that, I don’t do much of anything.

4- Blogging:

cloud-709089_1920

  • Yup. I have no idea what I am doing.
  • I want to learn everything I can so I can offer a great resource.
  • I love doing this
  • I need to buckle down and do it right.
  • My heart is completely in it

5- Socializing:

i-am-in-no-way

  • I don’t do it by choice
  • I have not been diagnosed
  • But, I have some sort of anxiety problem
  • I get very anxious around large groups of people
  • I tend to avoid social situations in any way possible
  • I do not answer the phone if I don’t now whois calling
  • A lot of the time I don’t call ANYONE, EVEN IF I know them
  • My Anxiety is hard to explain
  • Most of the time I don’t even know the cause of my panic attacks

6- Working:

add-subheading

  • The only job I’ve ever had was at a boy scout camp working in the kitchen as a salad prep/special needs liaison/cook
  • The reason for this goes back to my anxiety with social situations
  • I have extremely bad panic attacks when dealing with anything that has to do with talking to strangers.
  • Especially, in a professional capacity
  • Which is why I need this blog to be successful
  • This is my chance to contribute to my little family and take some of the stress off of my SO
  • Right now he is paying for everything I need to make my blog better
  • He has been paying for it for the past 8 months
  • And everything else we need

7- Life:

just-living-is-not-enough-one-must-have-sunshine-freedom-and-a-little-flower-read-more-at-http-%2f%2fwww-brainyquote-com%2fquotes%2fkeywords%2fflower-html2

  • It’s difficult, to say the least
  • Life can cut you down when you least expect it.
  • I try to Get up and keep going
  • It will get better
  • My mom always says… “This to shall passs”
  • I hang on that hope every day

And that was the random list :/

This has been very hard for me to get through. I can only hope by putting myself out here to you, I can get some feedback and really start helping other moms like me.

The one thing in my life that I know I am doing right is raising my beautiful daughter.

Allie is my everything and without her, I would be lost. She gives me purpose. She wakes me with a smile every day. “Mommy, I’m awake!”

Everything I do is for Allie. Which is why I named my blog Allie’s Mommy. Being her mother is the one thing I am completely confident about. No one can take that away! She is my heart and soul.

random list I don't know

Thank you so much for being here with me.

Is there anything in this post that you can relate to? Let me know in the comments and maybe we can help each other.

Allie’s Mommy

Hello, my name is Kristen Osborne I am a happy mother of one beautiful little girl. Very into the internet and trying out new things.

Mom funk? Here is some mom power inspiration!

Are you in a mom funk?

Here is some momsperation!

baby-37519_1280

You are not just a mom, You are so much more!

Yes, you are a Mother but you are also….

  • Sister
  • friend
  • daughter
  • wife/girlfriend
  • nurse
  • driver
  • chef
  • housekeeper
  • homemaker
  • decorator
  • shoulder to cry on
  • ear to vent to
  • advisor

and not necessarily in that order all the time.

You take on so much as a woman, not just a mom.

Mom funk affects the best of us on many occasions! It can be very daunting and tiring. Here is a little help for my fellow moms.

Quotes for those days you need to fight the mom funk

12 Ways to get your mom power back

  1. Exercise: even if it’s just for 10 minutes a day. Get yourself moving and grooving. Exercise is a great way to get in a better mood.
  2. Get away FROM the kids: go take an hour long hot bubble bath or go for a mani/Pedi and let daddy take care of the kids. You deserve it!
  3. Get away WITH the kids: Take a nice weekend where you and the kids can have a great time and relax.
  4. Stop, drop and read: Take some time to read a good book. It will get your brain working on things other than dishes and laundry.
  5. Write a letter to your child: Tell your child all the happiness they are bringing to you and all the smiles you cherish. Then in the future let them read the letter.
  6. Write a letter to your future self: Tell yourself about all the things you would like to achieve with your family.
  7. Go outside: even if it’s cold, bundle everyone up and go out for some fresh air and the sunshine.
  8. Make a 10 list: no matter what the topic, make a list of things you love or hate or a to-do list. It’s fun and therapeutic to put things on paper.
  9. Balance hip parenting with “keeping it real”: You don’t always have to be the “perfect soccer mom” You’re the best mom you can be.
  10. Be spontaneous: Do something crazy with the kids. Don’t worry about schedules and time.
  11. Tell your kids their birth story: at an age where you think they will understand/appreciate the love and amazing experience.
  12. Go through your pictures: make it a point to explain to your children the reasons that each photo holds a special place in your heart.

I’m not in the mood to mom today

I have the mom funk

My get up and go, got up and went!

It’s gone. I don’t remember when it left. All I know is it isn’t here anymore and I’m not sure when it will come back.

I have absolutely no desire to do anything productive today.

Here are a few reasons I feel this way:

  1. The laundry pile is almost as tall as my 3-year-old
  2. The sink has started to look like an abstract piece dedicated to Mt. Everest
  3. I refuse to pick up the toys in what used to be known as the “family room” because I don’t feel like starting that vicious circle again
  4. I’m still in my pajamas…
  5. because I am being lazy

But, I will tell you that when I’m feeling this way I always think of how I will feel when these chores are done.

Feeling accomplished and proud of yourself is one of the greatest feelings in the world. No matter what you need to do, it’s an incredible feeling.

Believe in yourself! Even if it’s just a few loads of laundry or a sink full of dishes. You can do it! No task is too big or too small.

If I don’t do laundry today, I’m gonna have to buy new clothes tomorrow

Everybody wants to save the Earth; nobody wants to help Mom do the dishes.”

mom funk

The biggest advice I can give to another mom to fight the mom funk is:

Get a good night sleep! Please, when the kids have gone to sleep for the night, forget everything else. It will all be there the next day. Take a half hour to sit and read a good book or just watch tv. Decompress from the day. Then, go to bed! I cannot stress this enough. You will be much more pleasant in the morning.

bed-1574322_1920

in a society where stay at home moms are referred to as lazy or taking the easy way out. Let me tell you something right now…

You are doing a great job to your child and your family! Don’t let anyone ever tell you that you are lazy or not providing for your child! You rock!!!

You are a wonderful mother doing a great job with your family.

Let me know in the comments what chores you absolutely do not like doing.

What is one thing as a mother that you wish could be easier to accomplish or take less time?

Hope everyone has a great week!!!

Motivation and inspiration for every day life of everyone

Motivation and Inspiration for every day life:

Motivation and inspiration-

Ever since I was very young I have always taken comfort in quotes and sayings from others. My earliest memory of this is when my grandmother was speaking of growing older. I had never thought of the subject before then and was very curious. I asked her if she missed her younger days. Her answer to me was quite simple. She said, “Age is a matter of mind, If you don’t mind it doesn’t matter”. I’ve carried that with me and have used it several times in my life so far.

Years later as I recall, my mom was comforting me after a particularly upsetting day. I do not remember what was so upsetting at the time, but I’m sure it was horrible in my mind at that age. She said to me that day, and on so many other occasions when I was upset. “This to shall pass”, meaning, no matter how difficult it may seem at the time, the pain will go away and you will be happy again. She still uses that with our family to this day and I’m sure it is as comforting to the rest of them as it still is to me.

Today I want to share some more quotes and sayings that help me through some tough times. Being a stay at home mom is a lot of fun but it does get frustrating and difficult at times. These sayings and quotes help a lot and also just put a smile on my face.

Quotes and Sayings from some great people-

Ruth Gordon said:

courage

“Courage is like a muscle, we strengthen it with use”

Virginia Woolf said:

truth

“If you do not tell the truth about yourself, you cannot tell it about other people”

Rosalene Glickman Ph. D. said:

“Every situation is an opportunity to do your best”.

Fred Devito said:

motivation to CHANGE

“If id doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”.

Wilma Rudolph said:

reward

“The reward is not so great without the struggle”.

Wayne Dyer said:

choice

“Be miserable or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, its always your choice”.

Zig Ziglar said:

success

“The real opportunity for success lies within the person and not in the job”.

Jim Rohn said:

RUNTHEDAY

“Either you run the day or the day runs you”.

Motivation through inspiration-

“It’s not about being perfect. It’s about effort. And when you bring that effort every single day, that is where transformation happens. That is how change occurs”.

-Jillian Michaels

As I said in the beginning quotes have been a big part of my life for so long. I hope these inspire and motivate you as much as they have for me.

What are some of the quotes or sayings that have helped you through your life? Are there any mantras that help you when you are going through tough times? Please share them with me in the comments.

Thank you for reading and I hope you come back again. Have a wonderful day!

Short post today. Not what I had planned because I did no prep of any kind. This was supposed to be yesterdays post but I got very bad news and I’m still processing and I am very emotional.

Today, I don’t feel like thinking very much. I’m just going to do a sort of stream of consciousness with photos I have collected the last couple of days.

Inspiration Reactions: How does it make you feel?

Inspiration Reactions: How does it make you feel?

530842234_1280x720

I remember being in catholic high school, (well, it was only 13 years ago). So, First thing in Theology class our teacher would have a bible passage written on the board. We would have to copy it in our journal and then write at least four sentences on what it meant to us. Then, we would discuss our feelings and get to know each others thoughts. That was my favorite part of the day. Mostly, because I loved being able to express myself with others instead of being told what something was “supposed” to teach me. It was very relaxing and fun.

So, I would like to take that same idea and apply it to a few quotes. I will give my perspective and I would love if you could add your ideas on some of them. I think it will be a lot of fun and eye opening. Lets get to the inspiration!

.________________.

“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice, and most of all love of what you are doing”.

inspiration for life and blog

This quote speaks to me in different ways. It reminds me of what my mom always used to say, “Anything worth doing is worth doing well”. If you don’t love what you do, you will never put in the work needed to be successful. You will not care about the process or the end result because your isn’t in it totally. Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.

._____________________.

“Remind yourself that its okay not to be perfect”.

short-inspirational-quotes-16

I picked this one because I hate that word. PERFECT- definition: Having all the required or desirable elements, qualities or characteristics, as good as it is possible to be. WHAT?! Who decides this standard?!?!! This word should never be used for a person in any way! It was made to describe an object. Like, this pen writes perfectly. It has all the qualities a perfect pen needs. People are so different and remarkable that there is absolutely no ONE “perfect”example. I just don’t like it.

.____________________.

“Be fearless in the pursuit of what sets your soul on fire”.

20-Inspiring-Status-Quotes-for-your-next-Status-3-Inspiring-Quotes-Quotes-for-Status

This is a great one Keep your eye on your passion and don’t forget why you started. Strive to reach your goal every day. Don’t be afraid to take a risk to better yourself. You will look back and be so proud of yourself for doing what you never thought you could.

._____________________.

“View life s a continuous learning experience”.

inspiration for life

I know for a fact of course that I learn not just something but a lot of new things everyday. So many different aspects of life amaze me. My daughter is definitely my biggest teacher. She teaches me so many different things, like how to be humble. How to get back to the basics in life and just be happy with what you have right now. How to love so freely and with out condition. She is my everything.

._________________,

“If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change”.

I chose this quote because it is my favorite from Dr. Wayne Dyer. He was such an inspirational speaker and all around great person. Change your thoughts change your life. (this is not sponsored but I love his books so much I want to add a link to my favorite. Excuses Begone) If something isn’t going your way change your perspective. Look at it in a different way and see the good in it. There is always a way to make your situation better.

._____________________.

And one more…. my Grandmother used to say this as she got older.

“Age is an issue of mind, If you don’t mind it doesn’t matter”.

49f569304d6044176ace5a2276272c9a

I always laughed because I never knew what she meant. Looking back now I recall that she never let her age get in the way. It was never an issue for her. She did whatever she wanted right up to the day she died. She has always been my inspiration. It has been 12 years and still everything she did and said resonates in my life. She was a beautiful, smart, loving, wonderful woman who taught me so much about life and what really matters.

So, that is enough inspiration for now. Hopefully you will be touched by one or more of these quotes and want to share your thoughts with me.

Thank you for reading. Hopefully, I didn’t bore you to much. Have a wonderful day!
