Motivation and inspiration for every day life of everyone

Motivation and Inspiration for every day life:

Motivation and inspiration-

Ever since I was very young I have always taken comfort in quotes and sayings from others. My earliest memory of this is when my grandmother was speaking of growing older. I had never thought of the subject before then and was very curious. I asked her if she missed her younger days. Her answer to me was quite simple. She said, “Age is a matter of mind, If you don’t mind it doesn’t matter”. I’ve carried that with me and have used it several times in my life so far.

Years later as I recall, my mom was comforting me after a particularly upsetting day. I do not remember what was so upsetting at the time, but I’m sure it was horrible in my mind at that age. She said to me that day, and on so many other occasions when I was upset. “This to shall pass”, meaning, no matter how difficult it may seem at the time, the pain will go away and you will be happy again. She still uses that with our family to this day and I’m sure it is as comforting to the rest of them as it still is to me.

Today I want to share some more quotes and sayings that help me through some tough times. Being a stay at home mom is a lot of fun but it does get frustrating and difficult at times. These sayings and quotes help a lot and also just put a smile on my face.

Quotes and Sayings from some great people-

Ruth Gordon said:

courage

“Courage is like a muscle, we strengthen it with use”

Virginia Woolf said:

truth

“If you do not tell the truth about yourself, you cannot tell it about other people”

Rosalene Glickman Ph. D. said:

doyourbest

“Every situation is an opportunity to do your best”.

Fred Devito said:

motivation to CHANGE

“If id doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”.

Wilma Rudolph said:

reward

“The reward is not so great without the struggle”.

Wayne Dyer said:

choice

“Be miserable or motivate yourself. Whatever has to be done, its always your choice”.

Zig Ziglar said:

success

“The real opportunity for success lies within the person and not in the job”.

Jim Rohn said:

RUNTHEDAY

“Either you run the day or the day runs you”.

Motivation through inspiration-

“It’s not about being perfect. It’s about effort. And when you bring that effort every single day, that is where transformation happens. That is how change occurs”.

-Jillian Michaels

As I said in the beginning quotes have been a big part of my life for so long. I hope these inspire and motivate you as much as they have for me.

What are some of the quotes or sayings that have helped you through your life? Are there any mantras that help you when you are going through tough times? Please share them with me in the comments.

Thank you for reading and I hope you come back again. Have a wonderful day!

Twitter has gotten me all atwitter: Mom-isms from Twitter

Twitter has gotten me all atwitter!

Twitter…

tweet-155281_1280

Today I want to explore some of the silliness on Twitter. Mostly from mom bloggers who have very interesting things to say about their children and life in general.

These ladies are super funny and also very talented in all aspects of blogging and life.

I highly recommend following them 🙂

Before we get into those, let’s have a little history of Twitter…

Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called “tweets”. Registered users can read and post tweets, but those who are unregistered can only read them. Users access Twitter through the website interface, SMS or mobile device app. Twitter Inc. is based in San Francisco and has more than 25 offices around the world.

The site was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, and Noah Glass and launched in July 2006. The service rapidly gained worldwide popularity, with more than 100 million users posting 340 million tweets a day in 2012. The service also handled 1.6 billion search queries per day. In 2013, it was one of the ten most-visited websites and has been described as “the SMS of the Internet”. As of March 2016, Twitter has more than 310 million monthly active users.

On with the tweeting…

I would like to start with a few that I have already re-tweeted in the past few days. Then I will move on to finding more to share.

Tweeting and motherhood:

Shimmer and Shine: Nanananananana! Review

Shimmer and Shine: Nanananananana!

Today is going to be another (the last) installment of the children’s show reviews. This time I am going to review another one of Allie’s favorites. Shimmer and Shine!

Shimmer and Shine is a young children’s show about a young girl who luckily finds a genie bottle and gets these two super adorable twin genies-in-training who always seem to mess up her wishes. They ultimately figure it out by working together to solve the problems that her 3 wishes couldn’t help them to solve.

CORE CAST:

Shimmer– An optimistic genie with blue eyes and pink hair. She is enthusiastic and encouraging. She loves cleaning, glitter, and collecting genie bottles. Her favorite color is pink

Shine– A courageous genie with purple eyes and blue hair. She is an animal lover and is often hungry. Unlike her sister, she dislikes cleaning. Her favorite color is blue

Leah– A blonde girl with green eyes. She is best friends with Shimmer and Shine.[6] Although Shimmer and Shine usually mess up her wishes, Leah is patient and forgiving with them.

Zac– Leah’s neighbor and close friend. In the first season, he is oblivious to the fact that Leah has genies. Whenever something strange or unusual happens, he responds to it in a carefree manner. He also has a habit of telling humorous experiences he has had to Leah

Tala– Shimmer’s pet gibbon monkey. She has green eyes and wears white pearls like Shimmer does.

Nahal– Shine’s white Bengal tiger cub. She wears pink jewels and a gold circlet, like Shine does.

RECURRING CHARACTERS:

Rocket– Zac’s pet dog. His tendency to drool and chew on things often causes trouble. He has encountered Shimmer, Shine, Tala and Nahal at various times

Mr. Crab – A hermit crab who claimed Zac’s Dream Shell in “Ahoy, Genies!” and was referred to as Claude by Zac. He refused to give up his shell to Zac and even manages to beat Zac in a staring contest for ownership of it.

Kaz A genie in training who lives in Zahramay Falls who appears in Season 2 as Zac’s genie.

Kaz

Princess Samira – he ruler of Zahramay Falls, who is in charge of checking up on all the genies in training. She can grant wishes along with the younger genies. She occasionally rewards genies with magic Genie Gems that produce a variety of magical effects depending on the type of gem.

Shimmer_and_Shine_Princess_Samira_3

Roya– Princess Samira’s pet peacock, who resides in her palace.

Roya

Zeta the Sorceress- A resident of Zahramay Falls who wishes to be the most powerful person in Zahramay Falls (more powerful than any genie) and is the series first antagonist. Unlike most of the residence of Zahramay Falls, Zeta is a Sorceress instead of a genie, as she has no desire to grant the wishes of others. Her plans are almost always thwarted by Shimmer, Shine, and Leah.

Shimmer_and_Shine_Nazboo_and_Zeta_the_Sorceress_6

Nazboo– Zeta’s pet dragon, who caters to her every need and acts as Zeta’s underling. She is somewhat clumsy and often accidentally causes Zeta’s schemes to backfire. She can also get easily distracted by food and/or anything that piques her interest. She also enjoys getting occasional tummy rubs from Zeta.

PLOT:

shimmershine

The first season takes place in the human world and focuses on a young girl named Leah, who is friends with a pair of twin genies in training named Shimmer and Shine. Leah’s genies grant her three wishes every day, but they often mess up. Each episode features Leah working together with her genies to solve the problems they inadvertently cause, all while keeping Shimmer and Shine a secret from her next-door neighbor Zac.

In the second season, the characters are transported to Zahramay Falls, a magical land where Shimmer and Shine live. Leah reveals her genies’ existence to Zac, who is given a genie of his own named Kaz. Shimmer and Shine continue to grant Leah wishes in Zahramay Falls and befriend the sovereign of the land, Princess Samira. The season also includes Samira’s pet peacock, Roya; Zeta, a villainous sorceress; and Zeta’s dragon, Nazboo.

Doing this review was a lot of fun. I actually find myself getting lost in the silliness of these two lovable genie’s-in-training.

Until, next week I bid you farewell. Have a wonderful hump day! Enjoy your family 🙂

Hope I didn’t bore you to much.

This week’s question: If you had to pick one house chore to never do again, what would that chore be and why?

Thanks for reading!!!

Hello, my name is Kristen Osborne I am a happy mother of one beautiful little girl. Very into the internet and trying out new things.

Zoo of Philadelphia: A family trip to the Zoo

Zoo Trip:

Hello all! I hope you are all staying cool on this very hot day.

Today Mommy Daddy and Allie took a trip to the zoo. Might have been a bad idea with the heat. But, Allie had a good time. That is all I really care about anyway.

A little about The Philadelphia Zoo:

“The Philadelphia Zoo’s 42-acre garden is home to more than 1,300 animals, many of them rare and endangered. By connecting people with wildlife, the Philadelphia Zoo creates joyful discovery and inspires action for animals and habitats. Cheetahs, hippos, giraffes and much more make the Zoo Philadelphia’s leading family attraction with over 1.35 million visitors last year.

Like many other Philadelphia landmarks and institutions, the Philadelphia Zoo is an American first. The charter establishing the Zoological Society of Philadelphia was approved and signed on March 21, 1859. Due to the Civil War, however, it was another 15 years before America’s first zoo was ready to open.

It opened its gates on July 1, 1874. The Frank Furness Victorian gates and gatehouses, and the Zoo’s location, are the same today as they were on the day it opened. One of its assets, then and now, is John Penn’s home, The Solitude, which sat on the land chosen for the Zoo. John Penn was the grandson of William Penn, founder of Pennsylvania. The Solitude is considered to be Philadelphia’s most precise and elegant expression of neoclassical style.

On opening day, flags flew, and a brass band welcomed more than 3,000 visitors. Admission was 25 cents for adults and 10 cents for children, a rate that held for the next half century. Visitors came on foot, on streetcars, by horse and carriage, and every 15 minutes by steamboat on the Schuylkill River, landing at the Zoo’s own wharf. The Girard Avenue Bridge opened three days later.

Since the early 1700s, the idea of an American zoo was inspired by English settlers with a keen interest in wildlife and by sailors and hunters who returned from faraway lands with exotic animals they’d never seen before. People would gather and pay shillings to see animals such as lions and elephants displayed at places like general stores and museums. As a hub of scientific inquiry and discovery over many years, Philadelphia’s well-known leaders of the time began to formulate the idea of a zoo. In the mid-1850’s, a prominent Philadelphia physician, Dr. William Camac-the Zoo’s founding father-became involved and led the way to making America’s first zoo a reality.

In its first year of operation, it had 813 animals and received well over 228,000 visitors. Today, the Zoo has more than 1,300 rare and endangered animals, and its attendance is approximately 1.35 million visitors a year.”

I got a lot of great pictures this time. Most of the other times we went to the zoo, we weren’t able to see a lot of the smaller animals. This time I got some good pictures of little furry guys I really wanted to see.

We have a membership and we all love the animals so we usually go about 2-3 times a month weather permitting. Animals are so beautiful 🙂

Here we go….
