Allie and Mommy had a great time at the park

Park a.k.a playground time is fun time. We love going to the playground.

Park time for Allie. This is an extra post for this week because I got some great pics today. I want to share our trip to the park and pics I took.

It has been so hot this summer that Allie and I have not been to the mark as much as we normally would have been. But, today we just had to get out in the sun and breeze and take a walk.

There are only few things at our park but she gets a kick out of every one of them. There are a few different slides but she won’t go down any of them by herself so I did not get and pictures.

First, she has to go on the swings and say wee-hee-heeeee. Not weeeeeee… cause thats wrong. But, wee-hee-heeeee!! She is such a cutie 🙂

Then. she does one of three things… the whale…

which I did not get any pictures of because the lighting isn’t very good at that corner of the park.

The horsey…

And then, without fail every time, she wants to go back on the swings before we leave.

And now as I do sometimes. A little history about the first playground…

A playground is a place with a specific design to allow children to play there. It may be indoors but is typically outdoors. While a playground is usually designed for children, some playgrounds are designed for other age groups.

Modern playgrounds often have recreational equipment such as the seesawmerry-go-roundswingsetslide, jungle gym, chin-up bars, sandboxspring rider, trapeze, playhouses, and mazes. Many of which help children develop physical coordination, strength, and flexibility, as well as providing recreation and enjoyment. Common in modern playgrounds are play structures that link many different pieces of equipment.

Playgrounds often also have facilities for playing informal games of adult sports, such as a baseball diamond, a skating arena, a basketball court, or a tether ball.

Public playground equipment refers to equipment intended for use in the play areas of parksschools, child care facilities, institutions, multiple family dwellings, restaurants, resorts, and recreational developments, and other areas of public use.

My baby girl tired herself out and she is now taking a much needed nap.

And, all that running around made mommy tired as well. On to a much needed shower!!!

Shimmer and Shine: Nanananananana! Review

Shimmer and Shine: Nanananananana!

Today is going to be another (the last) installment of the children’s show reviews. This time I am going to review another one of Allie’s favorites. Shimmer and Shine!

Shimmer and Shine is a young children’s show about a young girl who luckily finds a genie bottle and gets these two super adorable twin genies-in-training who always seem to mess up her wishes. They ultimately figure it out by working together to solve the problems that her 3 wishes couldn’t help them to solve.

CORE CAST:

Shimmer– An optimistic genie with blue eyes and pink hair. She is enthusiastic and encouraging. She loves cleaning, glitter, and collecting genie bottles. Her favorite color is pink

Nickelodeon_Shimmer_and_Shine_Character_Shimmer

Shine– A courageous genie with purple eyes and blue hair. She is an animal lover and is often hungry. Unlike her sister, she dislikes cleaning. Her favorite color is blue

aa3fb5019a2c3ba0eca3d293340ed3ab

Leah– A blonde girl with green eyes. She is best friends with Shimmer and Shine.[6] Although Shimmer and Shine usually mess up her wishes, Leah is patient and forgiving with them.

562f9156359cb4bbf6a5d642da24ba3e

Zac– Leah’s neighbor and close friend. In the first season, he is oblivious to the fact that Leah has genies. Whenever something strange or unusual happens, he responds to it in a carefree manner. He also has a habit of telling humorous experiences he has had to Leah

Tala– Shimmer’s pet gibbon monkey. She has green eyes and wears white pearls like Shimmer does.

Nahal– Shine’s white Bengal tiger cub. She wears pink jewels and a gold circlet, like Shine does.

RECURRING CHARACTERS:

Rocket– Zac’s pet dog. His tendency to drool and chew on things often causes trouble. He has encountered Shimmer, Shine, Tala and Nahal at various times

Mr. Crab – A hermit crab who claimed Zac’s Dream Shell in “Ahoy, Genies!” and was referred to as Claude by Zac. He refused to give up his shell to Zac and even manages to beat Zac in a staring contest for ownership of it.

Claude_the_Crab

Kaz A genie in training who lives in Zahramay Falls who appears in Season 2 as Zac’s genie.

Kaz

Princess Samira – he ruler of Zahramay Falls, who is in charge of checking up on all the genies in training. She can grant wishes along with the younger genies. She occasionally rewards genies with magic Genie Gems that produce a variety of magical effects depending on the type of gem.

Shimmer_and_Shine_Princess_Samira_3

Roya– Princess Samira’s pet peacock, who resides in her palace.

Roya

Zeta the Sorceress- A resident of Zahramay Falls who wishes to be the most powerful person in Zahramay Falls (more powerful than any genie) and is the series first antagonist. Unlike most of the residence of Zahramay Falls, Zeta is a Sorceress instead of a genie, as she has no desire to grant the wishes of others. Her plans are almost always thwarted by Shimmer, Shine, and Leah.

Shimmer_and_Shine_Nazboo_and_Zeta_the_Sorceress_6

Nazboo– Zeta’s pet dragon, who caters to her every need and acts as Zeta’s underling. She is somewhat clumsy and often accidentally causes Zeta’s schemes to backfire. She can also get easily distracted by food and/or anything that piques her interest. She also enjoys getting occasional tummy rubs from Zeta.

Shimmer_and_Shine_Nazboo

PLOT:

shimmershine

The first season takes place in the human world and focuses on a young girl named Leah, who is friends with a pair of twin genies in training named Shimmer and Shine. Leah’s genies grant her three wishes every day, but they often mess up. Each episode features Leah working together with her genies to solve the problems they inadvertently cause, all while keeping Shimmer and Shine a secret from her next-door neighbor Zac.

In the second season, the characters are transported to Zahramay Falls, a magical land where Shimmer and Shine live. Leah reveals her genies’ existence to Zac, who is given a genie of his own named Kaz. Shimmer and Shine continue to grant Leah wishes in Zahramay Falls and befriend the sovereign of the land, Princess Samira. The season also includes Samira’s pet peacock, Roya; Zeta, a villainous sorceress; and Zeta’s dragon, Nazboo.

Doing this review was a lot of fun. I actually find myself getting lost in the silliness of these two lovable genie’s-in-training.

Until, next week I bid you farewell. Have a wonderful hump day! Enjoy your family 🙂

Hope I didn’t bore you to much.

This week’s question: If you had to pick one house chore to never do again, what would that chore be and why?

Thanks for reading!!!

Consciousness on the fly, what more can I say

Stream of Consciousness…. on the fly…. I have no other words…

First of all, I am going to apologize in advance for this post.

Reasons:

  1. I did not prepare for this post at all
  2. I am going to jump around to so many different topics
  3. I am not in a great mood so this might get dark
  4. My head hurts
  5. Some other reasons that I may or may not explain in a later post

Crazy……

consciousness is a stream of crap

The News:

The crap that is going on in America these last few months is appalling! I can not even imagine how the families are dealing with the loss of their loved ones.

I am livid!!! Something has got to be done to educate these police officers better. I don’t know what else could be the problem other than lack of knowledge on how to properly handle a situation. Whether it be to deescalate or to know when someone is actually a threat.

Right now I don’t know all of the information about all of the cases but I do know that most of the people who were killed were not armed, therefor should not have been shot at all. Whether they had a record is irrelevant. The system is set up so each person gets their fair trial. These people were not given that chance.

This situation will never resolve itself until everyone admits that we have a problem!

I have no words for this.

Weather:

For the moment,  just want to make a statement on this weather we are experiencing here in Pennsylvania. It is so damn hot I can’t even take Allie outside to play in the backyard. What the heck mother nature?!!!???!

Moving on…

Life:

I don’t know what to say about this in particular. A lot of things going on are very private right now. But, I know in the future they will be in a post anyway. For right now I am not comfortable saying anything.

On another note Allie has been so cute lately. Its like she takes in everything she sees and repeats it in the cutest way possible.

heart-598048_960_720

Example:

The other night we went over Daddy’s brother’s/and wife’s house to visit. Allie loved the marble floor so much that she was tip toeing and tapping around laughing and having a great time. Then she saw the bathroom and said “Mommy go pee-pee?” We all died laughing. Then right as we were about to leave she says, “So guys, I’ll see you another time!” with a huge smile on her face. She had never said that before 🙂

Information for the very near future of my blog:

I am going to be posting only one post a week. I have chosen Wednesday. I made this choice because I would like to be able to concentrate on a post and make it the best it can be instead of trying to cram two posts in a week and have mediocre content.

I am working on building my subscribers and making new and interesting newsletters for all of my readers. Hopefully, I can accomplish what I want to do fairly quickly.

Thank you so much for reading and being here for me.

Any advice you could give for interesting content within the Sahm/Homemaker niche would be great. Also, anything you would like to know about. Any ideas would be great.

Also, I could answer any questions you might have pertaining to being a first time SAHM.

Have a great day!!!

Team Umizoomi Review: Should your child watch

Team Umizoomi Children’s Show Review:

Team Umizoomi is a children’s show on Nick Jr. where this super alien team helps children, around Umi City, solve everyday problems with their tiny superpowers.

Let me just say first before I get into this review that Allie loves Team Umizoomi so very much. At first, I didn’t like this show at all. It was so far-fetched and silly with these mini-aliens and their friend robot. who also drove around in a car that could talk to them. But, now I find myself walking around the house singing their silly theme songs.

hqdefault

Let’s just get right into this….

Team Umizoomi first aired on Nick Jr. back in 2010 on January 25. They are Mini mighty math superheroes coming to save the day. They use preschool concepts of counting, measurement, shapes, patterns and comparisons to teach the viewer math skills.

2000px-Nick_Jr._logo_2009.svg

Each episode consists of a few or all of the following:

  • A task or quest to complete, in order to assist a child in need. Doing this requires smaller tasks along the way. There are sometimes unforeseen difficulties that must be dealt with to proceed. They generally involve math reasoning with patterns, sequences, counting, geometric shapes, and other age appropriate math skills.
  • They almost always “break the fourth wall” where the characters on screen communicate directly to the child viewing the show and encourage them to participate to help solve the problem.
  • A mixture of live action and animation. The team and the surroundings are animated, but the person being helped is often a real child, or even an adult. In the city or other crowd scenes, other real people are shown in the background. In comparison, the team is less than a foot tall.
  • Once the main problem has been completed, the team sings a song and performs a dance called the crazy shake which involves shaking and wiggling back and forth quickly.

In some episodes, a simple explanation is given of an everyday process. Such as, how milk gets from farm to market, or how packages are sorted at the post office.

Core Cast consists of:

Milli: A 6-year-old super alien who can use pattern power to solve problems

Milli

Geo: Milli’s 8 year old brother, who can use shapes to build things they might need to solve the problem

Geo

and…

Bot:His abilities are more functional than math-related. His arms and legs can be extended to reach things, by saying “Arms Extendo” or “Legs Extendo” Sometimes “Jaw EXTENDO!”. He has a small receiver (like a satellite dish) on his head to receive calls (called the Umi Alarm). He also has a screen on the front (called a “Belly Belly Belly Screen”) that they can view videos/pictures on as well as have a video call with someone who needs their help. He also has a storage compartment on the back of his body, called a Bot-o-mat, which frequently is carrying whatever the team happens to need.

Bot

The Trouble makers: Their only goals in life are to cause havoc, chaos, and trouble in Umi City, as well as defeat Team Umizoomi. They have a secret weapon called the Trouble Ray, which fulfills their malicious trouble making ways

team umizoomi doormouse post today

Umicar: the talking car that drives team Umizoomi around Umi City

This show is very educational and teaches helpful skills for children. Not just the math skills, but sharing, caring and safety as well.

I actually enjoy this show. It is only annoying because kids shows these days don’t seem to update very often. I’ve watched the same episodes of a few different shows for about 2 weeks now. But, Allie doesn’t seem to mind. She loves watching the shows no matter what episode it is at the time.

In conclusion, I think this show is very good for children around 2 to 4 who are just picking up on some skills. Allie is 2 and she has learned so much from just the short time she has been watching Team Umizoomi.

Now here are some coloring pages for you to print out and give to your Umizoomi loving child 🙂

If your little one loves Team Umizoomi as much as Allie does I have a great deal for you.

I am planning on buying this for Allie this Christmas and I highly recommend it.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Baggage Claim: What do we do with all this excess stuff?

Baggage Claim: What do we do with all this excess stuff?

maxresdefault (1)

We all have some sort of baggage. Depending on what happened in our lives, who we crossed paths with or how we emotionally handle stress. Everyone has baggage.

I believe that everyone has some sort of baggage. We just handle it in different ways. Sometimes it can overwhelm us and interfere in our relationships. I have always wondered how people deal with baggage. I know there is some baggage that people will absolutely not deal with for anyone. And that is our choice.

Different types of baggage:

Major problems with parents or family in general:

baggage claim in life

There are so many different reasons one could have baggage from family. It is usually from a parental problem but, can stem from other sources like siblings or cousins.

I think the biggest section of this category is resentment for a parent favoring one child over another. Like, feeling less loved because an older or younger sibling is getting more attention or is more successful in everything.

Depression:

Vincent_Willem_van_Gogh_002

A lot of things can happen to make people fall into depression. There is no formula to track the symptoms or figure out who is more likely to be depressed. Different things effect people in many different ways. There should be no judgment, they have enough to deal with already. A support system is key to helping them.

Sometimes you can figure out that a friend might need help. They are moody; don’t feel like being social with others; they have low self-esteem and are critical of themselves; have lost interest in activities that used to make them happy; complains a lot and has a pessimistic view of the future; gets irritated easily and excels at starting arguments; and cries once in a while for no particular reason.

An Ex-ample:

A significant other can definitely leave you with a great deal of emotional baggage no matter how long or intense your relationship was, and these experiences could make things a lot worse for your future relationships. And it applies to the people you date as well.

When you first start dating someone, ask yourself the following questions: Is this person still in contact with his or ex? Has the person you’re dating fully closed the romantic/need-for-attention door with the ex.

If you breathe even the slightest whiff of unfinished business with your date’s ex, you will make your life easier by heading toward the nearest exit sign. If the last relationship ended in a nasty or messy way, a person needs a year or longer to heal before being able to start a healthy relationship – which means not carrying baggage into the next one.

In the first few months of dating, he mentions his ex at least once per week; she still keeps pictures around or other mementos of the ex; you hear him mention the ex’s name when he’s talking to friends; he tries to get together with the ex for coffee or a meal soon after the breakup; or they compares you in any way to their ex.

When we’re willing to hold onto a person at all costs, even if that means losing ourselves, we’d rather have them on some terms, even if they’re crummy terms, rather than not at all. We decide that they’re the only way that we can be happy and we act as if they’re our oxygen supply. The very person who is actually contributing to our deep unhappiness is at the same time regarded as the primary or even sole source of our happiness.

While this person is suffering from excessive baggage, this relationship will hurt you in many ways so it is best to end it. If you decide to try to help them get through their hurt and move on that is your decision. But, try not to hang on to long because if they can’t move through it you are stuck as well.

276183089c9410ccf00e13bc0a51f21f

Types of underlying baggage:

13408034714_b58f77028f_b

PASSIVE AGGRESSIVENESS: the indirect expression of hostility, through procrastination, stubbornness, sullen behavior, or deliberate/repeated failure to accomplish tasks for which one is responsible.

NO COMPROMISES: showing an unwillingness to make concessions to others, especially by changing one’s ways or opinions.

NOT HOUSE TRAINED: This is quite common. It could be that you swear like a sailor, or don’t clean your room, or eat with your mouth open, or pee on the toilet seat, or leave dirty underwear everywhere.

SELFISHNESS:  concerned excessively or exclusively with oneself :  seeking or concentrating on one’s own advantage, pleasure, or well-being without regard for others.

CRITICISM: the act of expressing disapproval and of noting the problems or faults of a person or thing.

BLAME: to say or think that a person or thing is responsible for something bad.

Accept it:

22593314880_6ba0c6951d_b

The first step to dealing with your emotional baggage is to admit that it does exist. Acceptance may take some people longer than others. However, remember that just because you accept that you have emotional baggage doesn’t mean you have to tell everyone! Overall, emotional baggage doesn’t need to stop you from living a full and happy life. Understand that every person has some emotional baggage, and don’t be afraid of what lies ahead!

If you are depressed or know someone who is please go ADAA and contact a doctor or family member.

In conclusion, at the end of the day take care of yourself first. You are the one that matters the most to you. Before you let anyone in make sure they are worthy of you.

Hello, my name is Kristen Osborne I am a happy mother of one beautiful little girl. Very into the internet and trying out new things.

Moving: What the heck do you need?!

Moving on up to the east side…….

To a not so deluxe apartment almost in the sky….

movers-24403_1280

So, this is sort of off the cuff. I did make a rough draft list but most of this is off the top of my head. Honestly, I work better (and calmer) that way.

We are currently in the middle of packing to move. I have been scouring the interwebs trying to find a comprehensive checklist of things we need or don’t need as the time gets closer. Also, trying to find a schedule type thing that is easy to follow and not to in depth. I have failed.

I have decided to put together my own little tips and tricks to make the transition and actual move a little less stressful (I mean there is no way to eliminate all the stress from a move).

I will be jumping around to different checklists and strategies that I have come up with so far.

First of all… I have come up with a system of colored dots on all of the boxes to signify to which room they belong. I had a lot of fun doing this actually. Color coding is one of the things that relaxes me so this was a great idea on my part.

This is my code:

Living room- yellow bar

Dining room- blue bar

Kitchen- green dot

Allie’s room- pink bar

Basement- blue dot

Master Bedroom- yellow dot

Spare room- red dot

moving on up to the east side moving on up to the east side 2

I will have corresponding colors on the doors to the rooms for less confusion. We will be having a few friends helping with the move, This system should help it run smoother than it would normally…. hopefully. (I am aware that the yellow and blue bars and dots are pretty much the same but I’m hoping that the shapes will be enough of a difference not to cause a problem).

hand-truck-564238_1920

Finally, on with the actual lists of things you will need for the first few nights while you are working on unpacking and organizing everything. (at least I know we will need these things) 🙂

Also, take the time to clean as much as possible before you move any large furniture into the house. It is so much easier to do a deep clean when there is nothing in the way. It will feel more like your home if you put that clean touch of yourself in it.

I highly recommend…… Cleaning list

So, right now this is all I have in the list category. There are a lot of things that need to be done that do not necessarily fit into a list.

Make sure to pack things you will definitely need within the first few hours of moving in so that you will not need to search around everywhere in different boxes for certain things. This is easier said than done, but it makes it a lot less difficult if you try to think of the things you are going to need and keep them aside.

Most of all, you will be so happy when you finally get in and settled and can breath a sigh of relief. You are home!

I can’t wait for that to happen for us. It can’t come soon enough , because of this I can’t seem to quell my anxiety but that is another post altogether.

Thank you so much for reading. I hope I didn’t bore you to much. Have a wonderful weekend!
