A Final Goodbye to 2016: Family Year Review

Family Year Review of the things we have been doing for the past year.

Around this time of the holiday season I find myself thinking over this past year as sort of a family year in review.

So many things happen in the short span of a year. We seem to easily forget and/or rush through many of these things. It is a nice exercise to go back and reminisce on our experiences with family and friends.

In the spirit of the Holidays, I got to thinking about the things we have done this year. I would like to share with everyone my experiences.

Family Year Review

In February, for Valentine’s Day, Allie’s daddy took mommy to the Art Museum. I really enjoyed it. The talent of these artists through the years is so inspiring. I had an amazing time and I can’t wait to go again.

We got a hotel room for the night in a very swanky place. We ordered room service and watched a few movies. While Allie was hanging out with mom-mom for the night. It was a much needed time of relaxation and fun.

The next thing for this year is that I started this blog on March 9. It is still greatly in its infancy. But, I take it in stride because everyone works at their own pace. I can do this in my own time. Mostly, I get distracted by this pretty face.

Allie

But she is obviously a welcome distraction. She is of course my reason for this blog.

Early in the year was very relaxing and we did not have much to do the first couple of months. Although, we were preparing for a Wedding. Allie was the Flower girl in Uncle Andrew and Aunt Kait’s Wedding on April 2. She did such a great job!!!

Then on May 21, 2016 my baby girl turned 2!

family year review

Our little girl is growing up so fast. She has greatly exceeded our expectations. Allie is so very smart at just over 2 1/2 years (31 months).

Next, we had planned to move out and into our own place around the middle of June. That plan had fallen through at the last minute. We are still living with Allie’s daddy’s mom. We do plan on getting our own place in the not to distant future. Right now we are saving money.

A few months go by and we have a pretty relaxing time.

Then we went to a 4th of July (also happens to be my birthday) party. My mom and niece watched Allie so we could have a good time without worrying.

I had such a good time that I neglected to take any pictures. That I am very sad about…

Then a little more time goes by, hanging out with my beautiful little girl.

Then, we went to the zoo a few times. Allie and mommy really love the zoo, especially the giraffes.

Then, Halloween snuck up on us so quick.

We went to a Halloween party similar to the 4th of July party,  only we wore costumes and it was at night. 🙂 Also had a good time that I didn’t take any pictures. Again, I am very sad about it.

Allie had a really fun time Trick or Treating this year. She walked up to almost every house with daddy close behind. Said Trick or Treat and Thank you to everyone.

If you give Allie more than one thing at a time, she will take 1 at a time and say thank you after each one. So, needless to say, any house that we went to who thought she was the cutest kitty decided to give her 4 or 5 pieces of candy. So for almost a full 40 seconds she would stand there taking one at a time and putting it in her bag. Every person got such a kick out of it.

She also had to pet every dog that was any where near her at any given time.

Allie was dressed up like a pretty Kitty Cat (Allie Cat). She loved her costume very much.

Thanksgiving is pretty much the same every year. We go to my brothers and have a great dinner that his wife cooks. She is a great cook!

Then we go shopping on black Friday. This year, just like last year, we got almost everything on our list. We had just a few more things to purchase for our family and friends.

Christmas Eve came and we went to my brothers for the gift exchange to the nieces and nephews. Allie got some great toys from her Aunt’s and Uncles, also a very nice Princess Castle from Mom-Mom.

Christmas Day lasted two days for Allie’s Daddy’s side of our big family. We all got some great gifts and enjoyed spending time with each other.

This year has been a whirlwind of ups and downs. Everyone has their own experiences. Most of the year has been very pleasant and enjoyable.

A scrapbook for all your memories each year. Scrapbooking is a great way to save your pictures, trinkets and, keepsakes in a cute way. Especially when you have little ones.

This is my scrapbook page for Halloween. Not much going on because I just like the simple look sometimes.

Christmas this year was so much fun! Allie really got into the opening of presents. She still asks if we have any more presents for her. “More presents for me now?”.

The Things I enjoyed this year

From blogs to songs to quotes to Pinterest boards

These are all the things I have loved this year

In no special order

Blogs:

I have listed a lot of these in my blogs to follow posts but they are such great blogs that they stand another mention:

Mom Advice – specifically her Notebook that she posts every Wednesday about the things she has done that week

Lady and the Blog – especially everything

The Every Girl – I love her Coffee Talk under the Wellness category

Modern Mom – Anything under her Parenting category

Vintage Revivals – I check out this blog when I’m looking for décor inspiration

Okay, I am going to preface this with something. I am a 33 year old woman with a 2 1/2 year old daughter. That being said, I hate “adulting”.  So, I hold on to some seemingly “young”? things.

And, as such….. I am completely “fan girling” over this guy.  (fan girl: behave in an obsessive or overexcited way).

Ladies, I am not kidding right now. I commented on 2 of his Instagram posts and HE LIKED MY COMMENTS.

This is a normal everyday guy who just happens to be known pretty well for his Vines. Also, He is a very talented rapper outside of that. He also has a Snapchat that I check constantly. (hence fan girl).

J. Cyrus…….

Check him out!

Quotes

Always the #1: “This too shall pass” my mom

“Cheerfulness is the atmosphere in which all things thrive”

“Good, better, best. Never let it rest until your good is better and your better is best”

“The secret of getting ahead is getting started”

“Everyday brings new choices”

Allie’s Mommy and Daddy’s song:

I do not believe in New Year’s resolutions…

Why wait for a certain day to better your life? If you have something about yourself that you personally do not like, then do the things you need to do to change it now.

We all need to look at ourselves and evaluate the things that make us happy or bring us down. If there are things in our lives that do not help us move forward we need to move past those things. Life is more precious and important than what hinders us. Whether it be a person or an object or a habit. Take back your life.

Here is to hoping that 2017 is all that you need and want!!!

What is the one thing that you experienced this past year that you enjoyed the most??

I hope everyone has a happy healthy New Year!

Kaz A genie in training who lives in Zahramay Falls who appears in Season 2 as Zac’s genie.

Kaz

Princess Samira – he ruler of Zahramay Falls, who is in charge of checking up on all the genies in training. She can grant wishes along with the younger genies. She occasionally rewards genies with magic Genie Gems that produce a variety of magical effects depending on the type of gem.

Roya

Zeta the Sorceress- A resident of Zahramay Falls who wishes to be the most powerful person in Zahramay Falls (more powerful than any genie) and is the series first antagonist. Unlike most of the residence of Zahramay Falls, Zeta is a Sorceress instead of a genie, as she has no desire to grant the wishes of others. Her plans are almost always thwarted by Shimmer, Shine, and Leah.

Nazboo– Zeta’s pet dragon, who caters to her every need and acts as Zeta’s underling. She is somewhat clumsy and often accidentally causes Zeta’s schemes to backfire. She can also get easily distracted by food and/or anything that piques her interest. She also enjoys getting occasional tummy rubs from Zeta.

PLOT:

shimmershine

The first season takes place in the human world and focuses on a young girl named Leah, who is friends with a pair of twin genies in training named Shimmer and Shine. Leah’s genies grant her three wishes every day, but they often mess up. Each episode features Leah working together with her genies to solve the problems they inadvertently cause, all while keeping Shimmer and Shine a secret from her next-door neighbor Zac.

In the second season, the characters are transported to Zahramay Falls, a magical land where Shimmer and Shine live. Leah reveals her genies’ existence to Zac, who is given a genie of his own named Kaz. Shimmer and Shine continue to grant Leah wishes in Zahramay Falls and befriend the sovereign of the land, Princess Samira. The season also includes Samira’s pet peacock, Roya; Zeta, a villainous sorceress; and Zeta’s dragon, Nazboo.

Doing this review was a lot of fun. I actually find myself getting lost in the silliness of these two lovable genie’s-in-training.

Until, next week I bid you farewell. Have a wonderful hump day! Enjoy your family 🙂

Hope I didn’t bore you to much.

This week’s question: If you had to pick one house chore to never do again, what would that chore be and why?

Thanks for reading!!!

Super Pups: Nick Jr. Paw Patrol Characters Review

Super Pups: Paw Patrol T.V. Show Review-

Super Pups Paw Patrol:

Allie loves the Paw Patrol characters. She can name each pup and the people as well. She gets so excited whenever she see’s anything that pertains to the show. She has also accumulated some Paw Patrol merchandise.

She has a large Skye, Rubble, Skye lunchbox, Chase nightlight, and Paw Patrol blanket.

So, I think it is safe to say at this point that Allie really likes these silly little pups.

Now, on to the review…

The show, in general, is very good. It teaches patience, helpfulness, preparedness, and many other great life lessons that can be instilled in a child at a young age.

I was not aware until I looked up some background information, that Paw Patrol is a Canadian show. It is, in my opinion, a very well made show. I sometimes find myself getting lost in the story. They get into some pretty silly jams and always figure it out together.

Paw Patrol Characters

These are the core Paw Patrol characters who appear in every episode.

Zuma- Is a water loving chocolate lab who loves to surf and drive his super hovercraft to rescues.
zuma-feat-332x363_5378

Rocky- is a mix breed who unlike Zuma, is not fond of the water. but loves to recycle and use his super tools to rescue others.
Rocky-feat-332x363

Rubble- is a playful English Bulldog who loves skateboards, dirt, bubble baths and his digger.

Skye- is a fearless Cockapoo who flies her helicopter to rescues and does back flips for a super job well done.
Skye-feat-332x363

Marshall- a clumsy Dalmatian fire pup who trips over his own paws but always seems to say “I’m okay”.
Marshall-feat-332x363

Chase- Police German Shepherd always ready to help. Chase is on the case! Allergic to cats and feathers.
Chase-feat-332x363

Everest- Husky pup who loves sliding down the ice and snow on her super belly.

Ryder- The fearless leader, rescuer, teacher of the super Paw Patrol Pups.

They just added a new pup…

Tracker- a jeep-driving pup with super hearing who lives in the jungle and enjoys playing with the various forms of wildlife there, often utilizes his great hearing abilities to save someone in danger when necessary

These pups have a really great brother/sisterhood. They help each other with genuine concern. That teaches more than just compassion. They are always very positive and caring. I am very glad to say that this is Allie’s favorite show.
